OUR SERVICES

Christian Clinical Counseling

We provide clinical counseling through a bibilical, Christian perspective.

Addiction Counseling

Addiction is a way of dealing with present realities that are overwhelming. Substances help you cope for a little while, but eventually they fail to sustain the high.

Our therapists guide you to replace those coping strategies with healthier and life-giving tools to be able to navigate the world while fully present.

Marriage and Family Counseling

We are wired for relationships, that's why rifts between others can feel so heavy. If you and your partner feel like you keep "missing" each other, we'd love to work with you to try different, not harder.

If your child (8+) doesn't seem like themself or is having issues in school, an outside perspective from someone who understand Family Systems can offer practical help in equipping the whole family to thrive together.

Trauma Process Therapy

Trauma distorts the way you see the world. It impacts how you react to stressors in your daily life.

Our therapeutic process seeks to restructure the way you see the world and interact with it.

Learn a proven process to feel safe in your own body and become more responsive - less reactive - to the parts of daily life that keep you stuck.

FAQS

How long does therapy last?

Therapy duration is unique to each person. Some Cognitive Behavioral treatments can be as short as 8 sessions, and sometimes therapy needs to go a bit longer. Much of the length of treatment will be determined by your goals and the effort you are willing to exert each week to change. Lifelong coping strategies can take longer to alter, and that's ok. They weren't learned over night and they aren't changed over night.
The client has more control over treatment length than the therapist. Your therapist can provide appropriate interventions but it is the individual who determines how long it lasts. You can expect your therapist to inform you of their estimated treatment duration within the first session.

What should I expect on my first session?

Hope.
You've been trying harder, lets find a way to try different. All therapists at RMC are trained to exude compassionate competence. We seek to make all clients feel comfortable while we attempt to gather more information and form a care plan that you feel satisfied with. Your therapist will explain how they plan to help you reach your goals in addition to providing an estimated time frame. Some of the session will be spent discussing practical aspects of the counseling relationship such as payments and/or scheduling but we want every client to feel seen and have a path forward by the end of the first session.

Is all counseling the same?

Yes and no. All licensed counselors are considered medical professionals but they exist in the unique space where the relationship is part of the treatment. Therapists can attempt to remain as objective as they want, but at they end of the day, we all bring a little of ourselves into our treatment and that's not a bad thing... as long as the therapist knows where they end and the other person begins.
In other words, any therapist can be trained in the same material but how they apply it, can be different. YOU are the expert on yourself and us at RMC counseling never want to forget that. We are only temporary guides for you on your journey.

My last experience in counseling wasn't great and I'm nervous to try again, is there anything I can do to prevent another bad experience?

If this is familiar to you, we are very sorry. Most people who had a bad experience report they did not feel heard or respected by their past therapist and we strive to put the clients experience first.
The truth is, we can not promise that any therapist at RMC is the perfect fit for you but we can promise to listen if you feel treatment isn't working. We have networked with many therapists around the city to ensure a long list of other therapist we would be happy to refer you to. Our mission is to help this cities hurting people heal, regardless if it is with us or another caring professional.

Is counseling difficult?

In a word: yes. Is it difficult in the same way that learning how to fly is immensely terrifying and difficult for a baby bird. But that bird will have a far easier life once it overcomes it's fear of the unknown.
Counseling is the same way, things we have been suppressing may arise. Trying new unknown paths in life can be scary but in the end, there can be a new freedom. You can fall in love with your partner all over again. You can see your child thriving better than you even did as a child.
New is scary but our counselors can walk with you as you take the difficult leap out of the nest.

How do I know if I need counseling?

This can be a difficult question to answer as we don't know what we don't know. Counseling can be like a mirror that helps us to see different parts of ourselves previously unknown. If there's ever any part of yourself or your life you do not like or wish you could change, that's probably a good indicator that sitting across from a kind, non-judgemental expert, could be beneficial.
If you are unsure, call our office and ask for a free 15-minute consultation to see if you could benefit from counseling at this time.
